Due to lack of canonical information in the franchise, there is no definite answer to this question.

There is nothing to confirm this, but it could be Po's durability that comes with his natural body frame, which was strong enough to survive and win a battle with Tai Lung. Most of Tai Lung's hits were just absorbed and then rebounded by Po's bulk, and it even gave him protection against Tai Lung's nerve attack, which was strong enough to take out the Furious Five.[1]
